The subscription for Full Membership to the Association is £35 per annum.
From this we send £24 to the Yorkshire Beekeepers' Association, of which £21 is then allocated to the British Beekeepers' Association. Through this affiliation with the BBKA, a member is covered for Third Party Public Liability Insurance and Products Insurance.
From the subscription a further £2 is paid to Bee Diseases Insurance (BDI), which covers beekeepers for up to 3 colonies in respect of losses caused by statutorily notifiable honeybee diseases and pests.
Additional colonies can be insured on payment of further premiums (the rates are available upon request from the Treasurer):- all colonies within the same apiary must be insured. Insurance is valid Jan-Dec but payments made after 31st March only give cover after 40 days. This is not meant to discourage beginners merely to explain what happens to your subscription. NB: The annual renewal date for all memberships is October (no matter when you join in that year).
Friends of the Association who attend Apiary meetings, courses, and lectures or wish to be included on the Newsletter mailing list, are asked to donate £10 per annum. The cost of becoming a 'Friend' of the Association is automatically included for those who apply for the RDBKA Beginners' Courses. This does not give Insurance Cover or affiliation to other Associations.
You can download and print this paper application form (240kb pdf download) and send it with payment by post or use form on this page.
Cheques payable to “Richmond and District BKA” can be posted to the Treasurer, or you can pay electronically:
